Adults

Currently, there are six groups that meet for adult conversation and learning. Four classes meet on Sunday morning and two groups meet during the week.

Sunday Morning

The Present Word

This Bible study meets on Sunday morning.  The focus each week is on selected passages from the Bible. A study guide gives historical and theological background and poses discussion questions.

Topics in Church History and Theology

A Sunday morning adult educational class, this is a video-based endeavor. A prominent scholar makes a lecture-like presentation. The class is led through discussion questions by another class member.

Lectionary Bible Study

This Bible study looks at the scripture texts suggested for use in Sunday worship. The class reads the texts, discussing how the texts might be used in worship or the sermon.

Table Talk Class

This Sunday morning class meets in the church kitchen.

During the Week

Women of the Word

This group meets weekly at noon on Tuesdays (bring a brown bag lunch). A book or other study material is chosen with a particular emphasis on a woman’s perspective on matters of faith.

Book Discussion Group

Meeting on Wednesdays from September through August, this group reads a recently published book in Christian theology and meets to discuss the key concepts.

Monthly Groups

Presbyterian Women

Presbyterian Women is a nation-wide program for education, mission, and leadership development. There are two groups at Parkway that meet monthly starting in September through May. PW Dodson Moorman Morning Circle meet at 9:30 AM on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. PW Poyner Evening Circle meet at 6:30 PM on the 3rd Monday of the month.

Dorothy Raine Literary Society

This group of book lovers meets monthly on the second Thursday. This group is open to anyone who loves to read and talk about books.
