Become a Member

If you would like to become a member of Parkway Presbyterian Church the process isn’t much more complicated than saying that to the pastor, but it is an important step in a life of faith. 

The first step is acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. This means that you want to link your life to his life forever. You are making a promise that you will try your best to live a life of Christian faith and service.

Next comes the sacrament of Baptism. Baptism is an outward sign of your inward commitment. It is also an outward sign of God’s commitment to love you unconditionally. If you have been previously baptized you do not need to be baptized again to join the church. If you have not been baptized your baptism will take place during a regular time of worship. The Session is an elected group from the members of the congregation who have oversight of the entire ministry of the church. Those wishing to join the church will meet with the Session which approves receiving new members.

Finally, new members are publicly received into the congregation during morning worship. This is a formal way of recognizing and welcoming new people into our family of faith.
