Connect & Grow

Growth in faith often comes through study. Parkway offers study groups for all ages. Age-appropriate lessons are selected for classes for children and youth. Learning is best when it is participatory. There is little in the way of lecturing and a lot of emphasis on participating. Educational opportunities occur on Sunday morning before worship and other times throughout the week.

  • Nursery

Connie Tamez and Roxanne Downing provide care for children from newborns up.

When you leave your child in the nursery you will be given a pager in case there is a need to contact you.  The nursery has four areas, a play area for the smallest children, a crib room for the nappers, a playroom for the older children, and an outside play area that is shaded with a rubberized padded surface for softer landings if anyone falls.  There is a changing area with a sink and a bathroom in the nursery.

  • Children

Parkway offers a class for children from Kindergarten to Grade 5.  The teachers focus on simple stories of the Bible with age-appropriate activities.

Please contact church office for more information, parkway@parkwaypc.org.

  • Youth

Teenagers from Grades 6-12 have a separate class on Sunday morning.  Here is where the early religious education meets contemporary life. This conversational class encourages the youth to integrate their faith into daily life.

  • Adult

Currently, there are five groups that meet for adult conversation and learning. These classes meet on Sunday mornings and two groups meet during the week.

    SUNDAY MORNING

    The Present Word

This Bible study meets on Sunday mornings.  The focus each week is on selected passages from the Bible. A study guide gives historical and theological background and poses discussion questions.

    Table Talk Class

This Sunday morning class studies a single book of the Bible and discusses the intersection of scripture and contemporary life.

    DURING THE WEEK

    Women of the Word

This group meets weekly at noon on Tuesdays currently meeting via ZOOM. A book or other study material is chosen with a particular emphasis on a woman’s perspective on matters of faith.

    Book Discussion Group

Meeting on Wednesdays from September through May, this group reads a recently published book in Christian theology and meets to discuss the key concepts.

    MONTHLY GROUPS

    Presbyterian Women

Presbyterian Women is a nationwide program for education, mission, and leadership development. There is a group at Parkway that meets monthly from September through May.  PW Poyner Evening Circle meets at 6:30 PM on the 3rd Monday of the month.
